#009 2009-03-12 Secrets That Didis Have Kept From Their Parents

Episode Highlights by Ciaranne:
Kicking off an energetic and engaging studio episode of MoFanBangBangTang, XiaoMa was tasked to do a magic trick in ten seconds along with the opening dance sequence. As a result, he made a pretty decent effort to transform his Ace card into a Jack of Hearts card at the last second. Nevertheless, the other didis still attacked him with balls and a steam gun, complaining that his trick was very weak.

WeiLian built up the ideal gossipy mood for the didis to share their childhood secrets and scandals by commenting that he really felt the urge to hit AhJie. Thus, WeiLian joked that the intriguing focal point of this episode would be whether he does end up hitting AhJie or not.

A-Wei explained that WeiLian had been irritated by AhJie's frequent conversations with his lunch or anything around him, just to be able to hear his own voice. In particular, AhJie had put together two celebrity's names 'FanFan' and 'BingBing' to name his cold rice, 'Fan BingBing'.

The opening segment of this episode revealed the TEN MOST COMMON SECRETS that the didis have kept from their parents.

Firstly, they discussed various scenarious, where the didis have run away from home.

FanFan was particularly attracted to the glamourous portrayals of running away from home on TV so she tried escaping from home to a park for no particular reason one day. However, later she saw her father actually come out and search for her in his car so she sneaked off home, pretending that she had never been out in the first place, in order to avoid a beating.

XIAOJIE RUNS AWAY AS A TODDLER
To everyone's surprise, XiaoJie claimed that he had run away from home at a tender kindergarten age. XiaoJie explained how when he was little, it was common practice to discipline children by beating them. Once, XiaoJie was caned before his exam as a warning for if he performed badly. However, XiaoJie believed that this was morally incorrect as he had not done anything wrong so he threatened to run away from home. His parents weren't worried as they guessed that he would come home when he was hungry. In the end, XiaoJie really only just stood outside the gate until he was hungry and decided to go back inside to eat.

FanFan added that her mother also used to discipline her with a hanger when she was little. However, her mum denies ever having beaten her now, since it is not the recommended form of discipline any longer.

WangZi cued A-Wei to explain how he had run away from home after having done badly in a test. A-Wei was rather intimidated by his dad, who was very strict, and therefore was too afraid to go home.

WEILIAN IS TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL
WeiLian shared a hilariously random story of how he loved to arrive at school early when he was in junior high. One day, his mother forgot to wake him up at the right time and also packaged his lunch in a china bowl inside an ugly plastic bag when it was terribly uncool for teenagers to walk around carrying plastic bags. This caused WeiLian to throw a tantrum, where he announced that he was not going to attend school any longer. In reply, his mother calmly retorted that she didn't care because WeiLian would soon tire of it and go to school. Consequently, WeiLian really did leave his house and spent a while circling the local park on his bike. Yet, WeiLian eventually bored of it and went back to to school. Although he initially ignored his mother, things returned to normal in the household again within a couple of days.

HUYA AND HIS PIGGY BANK
In addition, HuYa also had a significant story to share about him running away during his primary school years. Since he was little, HuYa had developed an ongoing habit of saving a portion of his pocket money everyday. Unfortunately, one day he didn't receive any pocket money from his parents because he had been disobedient. Enraged, HuYa decided to leave home and try to find work in order to earn some money. As expected, HuYa's attempt to be employed was unsuccessful so he could only return home.

A-WEI'S EMBARASSING HAIRCUT
Moreover, A-Wei recounted another incident where he had escaped home due to the shame of a disastrous haircut. As his household stictly forbade him from growing out his hair, he could only have a very ugly, short replica of Guo Fu Chen's famous centre-part hairstyle. After this haircut disaster, A-Wei cried pitifully in the shower to the extent that his mother thought that it was a cat moaning. Afterwards, A-Wei went to stay at his friend's house without permission, but as he was afraid of getting in trouble, he returned home the same night.

On the other hand, both LiQuan and WeiYu have dared to run away from home over successive nights.

LIQUAN IS BRIBED TO COME HOME
LiQuan recalled that he had accidentally spent too long playing electronic games at his friend's house and was afraid of getting in trouble if he returned home. Therefore, he ended up sleeping on a park bench for one and a half days. However, LiQuan's mother knew that he particurlarly liked this park so she started to search for him there. At first, LiQuan refused to come out from his hiding place, but when his mother added, 'QuanQuan, I bought you some McDonald's!' LiQuan emerged to greet his mother immediately.

WEIYU RUNS AWAY FROM HOME DURING MOFANBANGBANGTANG
In contrast to all the didis, WeiYu had a pretty serious story of running away from home when he had a huge argument with his father, as he didn't approve of WeiYu going on MoFanBangBangTang. Furthermore, WeiYu's father beat him with electric wires until he was injured, which was the last straw for WeiYu. As as result, WeiYu stayed away from home for one whole month. Instead of staying at a responsible didi's house, such as Terry's, WeiYu wandered around alone, with only $1000 pocket money. Thus, after a week, he was broke and could only contact his mother and beg her for help. However, WeiYu cleared up that he had a very strong relationship with his father now, as we have seen in an ErJun episode where he wrote WeiYu a very touching letter.

Next, the didis shared incidents where they had stolen money from their parents.

Once, when XiaoXiang's father was notified that his son had stolen money from him, he came into XiaoXiang's room and just broke down in tears. This disturbed XiaoXiang so much that he never dared to steal money from his parents every again.

On the other hand, FanFan stated that it was the other way around in her household, as her parents would promise her that they would save up her pocket money on her behalf. However, to this day, FanFan does not know the wheareabouts of her pocket money!

LIQUAN'S ROBBERY TECHNIQUES
LiQuan commented on how he had found a trick around being framed for nicking missing money. For example, when his father put about 10 000 plus dollars on the top of his chest of draws, LiQuan would sweep seven or so thousand dollars onto the floor and then just take a couple of the remaining notes. WeiLian added that he had tried this successfully before, as his parents would either not notice that money was missing, or would just suspect some of it had been lost after the pile had been knocked out of place.

A-WEI'S ALIBI
A-Wei announced that he had an even more effective strategy, where he would purposely create an alibi for himself. As he family ran a business at home, things were often scattered everywhere. Thus, he would wait for his sister to find some loose change or object from the floor, and then take out the money he had stolen and pretend that it had come from the floor too.

XIAOJIE IS PUNISHED BY BUDDHA
Furthermore, XiaoJie claimed that he had even stolen money from Buddha before, let alone his parents, which caused everyone to laugh that his lack of chin must be a punishment from Buddha. As his father would often keep loose change next to a statue of Buddha on his chest of drawers, XiaoJie would pray to Buddha to let him take the money and promised that he would return every cent. However, XiaoJie kept taking more and more money without returning any, and was eventually found out and flogged as a punishment!

With all these naughty stories from the didis, FanFan warned any young audiences that might be watching not to imitate the didis as we can always ask our parents directly if we are in need of some money.

The didis also discussed how they used to forge their parent's signatures or how they had made changes to their school reports.

MAODI'S MISERABLE CHILDHOOD
MaoDi shared how he used to be particularly terrified after dinner, when his parents had to inspect and sign his progress report. This was significantly due to the fact that WangZi's report would be reviewed first and WangZi often received much higher grades than MaoDi. Once, when MaoDi's received a mark in the 60's, whilst WangZi got something in the 90's, his mother refused to sign his report, stating that it would have to wait until his father got home to deal with the situation. Therefore, MaoDi stated that he lived very much under a dark cloud when he was young and was often stressed about getting a scolding every evening. In addition, WangZi commented that MaoDi smartened up eventually and started pretending that he had lost his progress report.

ABEN, KING OF SET
On the other hand, Aben used to devise a crafty system, where he made separate progress report books for his parents and his teachers. Consequently, his parents and his teachers never saw the real signature of the other party as he would forge their signatures and then give each party the relevant book to review, where there were forever excellent marks and impressive comments. Although Aben usually received pleasing grades anyway, he prepared this system to avoid having to be dealt with by his father if he ever got a poor mark. This story caused a commotion amongst the didis as they realised that Aben had actually been the King of Set since his childhood!

A-WEI MAKES GOOD USE OF GLUE
A-Wei also sometimes used to forge his father's signature on his progress report but he was caught by his teacher one day, who told him that he must get his father to sign. A-Wei obeyed, but as he was afraid of his father finding out for having forged his signature, he went and glued all the previous pages, where he had forged signatures, together! Furthermore, A-Wei advised that the ideal time to get parents to sign progress reports would just after they were full from dinner, when they felt like dozing off.

WANGZI AND HIS EARLY MORNING PRANK
In response, WangZi argued that a better time for getting parents to sign unsatisfactory progress reports would be at six in the morning when parents would still be sleeping. WangZi added that at this time, children should wake parents up and rush them to sign, by lying that they had overslept and they were going to be very late for school!

Furthermore, XiaoJie added that it would be even more ideal if they juggle the report around in their arms covering all the places where marks were printed, whilst rushing their parents to sign.

AOQUAN CREATIVELY ALTERS HIS GRADES
During primary school, there were four grades, which were 'Jia', 'Yi', 'Bin' and 'Ding', from highest to lowest respectively. AoQuan received a 'Bin' because he often talked during classtime. Therefore, he requested his teacher to change it to 'Ding' instead. This is because the character of 'Ding' can be easily altered to 'Jia'. Similarly, AoQuan added that you can also purposely aim for getting 10% in a test, and then just change it to 100%!

In addition, Aben used to take the even more daring initiative to change his incorrect answers after his test was returned to him, and then tell his teacher that she had accidentally marked his now-correct answer wrong.

FanFan took revenge on HeiRen, who has recently been spilling numerous embarrassing stories about her on HeiSeHui, by sharing with everyone how he had once received a 1%, a 0% and then another 0% across three different tests. This gave a young, cheeky HeiRen to stick the three results pages together and show it to his dad, claiming that he had in fact received '100%'! In effect, HeiRen only got smacked by his dad.

XIAOLU'S CO-OPERATIVE EFFORT
Before writing time in an exam, XiaoLu would hide his paper, pretending that he had not been distributed one. Thus, he could get the examiner to give him another copy. Then, XiaoLu would circulate one of the copies amongst the class so that everyone can share answers and effectively the exam would be a group effort.

The fourth question for the didis to discuss was worded as, 'Have you ever kept the fact that you had a boyfriend/girlfriend a secret from you parents?'

Therefore, XiaoJie jokingly accused that the question was written that way to accomodate Aben!

WEIYU AND HIS LATE NIGHT DATES
WeiYu recalled a time when he didn't tell his dad about having a girlfriend and in that period of time, he often returned home really late because he always took his girlfriend home first. Consequently, his father became suspicious and decided to spy on WeiYu to see what he was up to. Therefore, one night when WeiYu was with his girlfriend, he saw his father drive by on a motorbike givng him a cheeky 'I know where you've been' look!

WANGZI'S SEXUALLY-ORIENTATED EXCUSE
As WangZi's parents often eavesdropped on his phone conversations, he would tell them that the girls he was speaking to were in fact lesbians so there would be no need for them to worry about him dating them.

MAODI'S ROMANTIC TEXT MESSAGE
On the other hand, MaoDi has come dangerously close to having to awkwardly explain to his parents about his girlfriend. Once, in the middle of the night, MaoDi felt like texting his girlfriend to tell her that he couldn't sleep because he was thinking of her. As MaoDi used to have a bad V8 phone that took ages to allow him to select who he wanted to text message, he resulted in accidentally sending the message to his dad instead! Then, just as he wanted to use the bathroom, he also bumped into his dad there. MaoDi's dad questioned who he was texting so late but MaoDi averted answering by saying he was very tired and was off to bed! However, MaoDi got teased by his dad for a long time afterwards.

XIAOJIE AND THE ERA OF EXCHANGING DIARIES
As text messaging wasn't around when XiaoJie was in high school, he instead had to follow the tradition of exchanging diaries with his girlfriend, so that he could read what his girlfriend had to say about him everynight. To prevent his parents from reading it, XiaoJie would graffiti 'I love you's' all over the cover, which would suffice to embarrass them, as he seldom showed warm affection to his parents.

Contrary to the majority of parents, XiaoXiang's mother and father are very technologically proficient, as he has noticed them search for MSN chat transcripts on both his and his brother's computers, in order to be updated on their latest arguments with girlfriends.

The proceeding question required didis to reveal whether they had ever caught their parents 'in the act'.

As most didis didn't want to offend their parents by sharing such private information, and with DuoDuo, who used to unbashingly discuss these kind of topics , not on the show anymore, the didis enthusiastically elected HuYa to be their representative for this question.

HUYU'S AWKWARD CALL FOR PEACE
As HuYa used to sleep in the same room as his parents when he was little, HuYa has managed to catch his parents 'in the act'. However, HuYa innocently thought that they were fighting in bed, and was concerned about this seemingly violent outbreak. Therefore, in the morning, HuYa told his parents that they should make up, as it was not good for them to fight. In response, HuYa's parents awkwardly told him that their relationship is fine and that they will promise not to fight!

Following this short, embarrassing topic, the didis were asked whether they had tricked money out of their parents.

XIAOJIE, THE TIMID ERRAND BOY
xj run errands
aw money box
To be continued...

Review by Choco-late:
The boys were very hyper in this episode all wanting to share their experiences when they were young, even Hu Ya who doesn't talk much has said a lot of words in this episode. The only thing I didn't like was there's so much words that was censored, it's kind of annoying to keep hearing those beeping sounds.

It's fun to listen to them talking about things happened when they were young and I it very amusing.

Ratings: 5/5 stars
1 = poor, 2 = alright, 3 = average, 4 = good, 5 = very good
